The Mountain Lions set the tone early when Krishna Persaud, a point guard on our varsity boys basketball
team now making his mark on the soccer field, converted a penalty kick to give Haynes the lead. Brian Martinez added to the advantage with a well-placed left-footed strike, while Bladamir Ayala delivered the finishing touch with two goals of his own, putting the match out of reach despite a determined effort from Cardozo.
“This win represents more than just a scoreline,” said Head Coach Findlater. “It’s the result of hard work, resilience, and the commitment of our players all summer and this fall tobelieve in themselves and each other.”
The victory marks a turning point for the Varsity Boys program, and momentum is already building as the team looks ahead to upcoming competitions.
E.L. Haynes will face Roosevelt High School tomorrow at 5:30 p.m. in the opening round of the Petworth Cup. I encourage you to attend and support the Mountain Lions as they continue their pursuit of excellence.
